Editorial Process

Thank you for your interest in writing for Dad.co!

Below is a quick guide to our editorial process for potential authors. We want to be transparent in our process as we receive several inquiries each week. If you have any questions about the process, feel free to contact us directly any time.

Step 1 : Introduce Yourself

The first step in the process is to introduce yourself via our contact page. We want to get to know you and see what perspective and expertise you have to offer our growing community of dads.

Here are a few things you can tell us on the contact form:

  • Your full name
  • Email address
  • Profession/Field of Expertise
  • Any relevant social media accounts
Answer these three questions:
  1. Are you a dad?
  2. In your opinion, what is the best thing about being a father?
  3. What appeals to you most about writing for Dad.co?

Step 2: Our Reply

An editor will reply to your contact form directly and may ask you a few more questions to get to know you. This editor will be your main point of contact throughout the process.

The editor may also ask you to provide links to articles you have written that have relevance to the Dad.co audience. If you have no currently published articles, you may provide some examples of your work through Google Docs or Dropbox.

If you have an article to submit for publishing to Dad.co, the editor will ask you the following questions:

  1. Does this article provide value to the dads who are visiting Dad.co?
  2. Is this an article with relevant and up-to-date information and statistics?
  3. Has this content been published elsewhere?

Step 3: Content and Format Editing

We will provide you with our Dad.co article template and guidelines so that your article will conform to our site in three areas:

  1. Layout
  2. Tone
  3. Content

There will be edits and suggestions as you work with the editor to complete your article for publishing. Once complete, your article will be ready for publishing.

Step 4: Publishing Your Article

Once your article is “print ready” your editor will work with you to create your author account and byline.

The last step will be to schedule your article for publication and add it to the site.

Congratulations! You are now a part of the Dad.co author family.
